Windows 7 takes long time to login into a Windows Server 2008 R2 (sp1)domain
Hello, Just testing with evaluation of Win2k8r2; setup the domain controller with dcpromo....added a win7 ultimate N (Technet subscription--legitimate) domain user. but after even couple of times of login the win 7 Ulti N still taking too much time to login, at least 3 minutes. Setup this whole thing in my office with 200 computers...clean install of win2k8r2, serving as only a DC & Files Services. Redone the painful process of upgrading all the computers to Win7 Ulti N, and all of the PC's showing the same result...taking too much time to login. previously had Win2k3 ENT, then upgraded to Win2k8 ENT but never faced such problems....HELP!!! thanks goes in advance, if anyone could shed some light in this regard... RegardsShuvro

Run a bootlog of Process Monitor [1] and look what happens in the 3 minutes after the Winlogon.exe started. Hi Shuvro, Please check if the other system version will encounter the same issue. Also, please perform a Clean Boot for a test. If all the computers in the domain have this issue, it can be more server related. In order to get the answer effectively, it is recommended to submit a new question in Windows Server Forum. The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Could you post the output of ipconfig /all on this machine? I would assume DNS misconfiguration (the clients IP configuration should exclusively point to DNS servers which are authoritative for your Active Directory). Also check the event log of the client for any related error messages and warnings during logon. If the client is multihomed, disable any unused network adapter or change the priority in Advanced/Advanced settings in Network and Sharing Center/Change Adapter Settings (you may have to press the Alt key to see the menu). Best greetings from Germany Olaf
