Windows 7 takes a long time to connect to internet after connecting to non-domain network.
I have a company issued laptop. While I am at work connected to the Windows Domain it is registered to everything works normally. However when I use the laptop anywhere else it can take several minutes to find the DNS. I can ping hosts by IP address so it is indeed acquiring and IP address and connecting to the networks normally. However it cannot resolve URLs. After several minutes it seems to work itself out and everything works normally. I have tried ipconfig /flushdns ipconfig /renew My initial thought is that it is looking for the DNS servers for the work domain and after so many failed attempts at locating it finally using the one provided by DHCP. But this is just a guess.

Hi, Can you try disabling the IPv6 on the machine when not in corp network? To disable IPv6 you can refer to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929852. Hi, Try to registerdns: ipconfig /registerdns Furthermore, try to temporary disable firewall and antivirus program for test. If the issue persists, you can also try to logon with Safe Mode with networking to check if the same issue occurs. Regards, Leo Huang Leo Huang TechNet Community Support

/registerdns does not work either. Because of GPOs applied to the laptop I am unable to disable the firewall or anti-virus. I was able to boot into safe mode and it doesn't seem to make a difference.
