Please start the command prompt with admin rights [1] and run sfc [2]:

Adding to Andre.Ziegler's suggestion you may also try the below methods.
Method 1: Remove all the third party media player software, if any, installed on your computer.
Refer:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Uninstall-or-change-a-program
Method 2: Try the below steps.
a. Go to the following location c:\windows (By default windows is installed on C drive)
b. Right-click on explorer.exe and select Run as administrator .
Method 3: Check your computer drives for errors.
Refer:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Check-a-drive-for-errors
Method 4: Run Windows Memory Diagnostic to test for bad RAM.
Refer the link below for more details:
Diagnosing memory problems on your computer
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Diagnosing-memory-problems-on-your-computer
http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp
The Windows Memory Diagnostic tests the Random Access Memory (RAM) on your computer for errors. The diagnostic includes a comprehensive set of memory tests. If you are experiencing problems while running Windows, you can use the diagnostic to determine whether
the problems are caused by failing hardware, such as RAM or the memory system of your motherboard. Windows Memory Diagnostic is designed to be easy and fast. On most configurations, you can download the diagnostic, read the documentation, run the test and
complete the first test pass in less than 30 minutes.

If the issue still exists, please access
Clean Boot to check the issue. If the issue disappears in the Clean Boot environment, you can continue to narrow down which entry is causing the issue.
Also, use ShellExView to disable third party extension of Windows Explorer:
1. Download ShellExView v1.41 from the following link
http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.zip
Please Note: The third-party product discussed here is manufactured by a company that is independent of Microsoft. We make no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding
this product's performance or reliability.
2. Right-click the "shexview.zip" file, select "Extract All", the Extraction Wizard will prompt.
3. Click Next, input "C:\ShellExView" (without the quotation marks) in the "Files will be extracted to this directory" textbox.
4. Click Next and click Finnish.
5. Open the "C:\ShellExView" folder and double-click the "shexview.exe" file. It will scan the registry for all the shell extensions.
6. Select all the non-Microsoft extensions in pink by press "Ctrl" in the keyboard.
7. Click the "Disable Selected Items" on the toolbar and click Yes.
8. Restart your computer and check if the issue is resolved.
