Windows 7 starter is very limited, it is designed to work with other windows 7 PC and surf the net.
If your 2000 is part of a domain you will need to upgrade to win 7 Pro or better, if not you need to provide a little more info.

Hi,
Please read:
You cannot access a shared folder that is located on a Windows 2000
or Windows 98-based computer from a Windows 7-based computer
To get a better performance, it is recommended to upgrade Windows 7 Professional or above which supports more features.
Best Regards
