Windows 7 sp1 trouble recognizing XP clients in a domain...
My new workstation is Windows 7 sp1. My Server is SBServer 2008. I have five other workstations that are running XP Pro sp3. The network is set up as a domain with no workgroups configured on any of the clients. Until this point I have had no trouble accessing file sharing with any workstation or the Server. Windows 7 client recognizes printers and print servers across the domain. The XP workstations recognize the Win7 station but not vice versa. Most of the discussions I've read about this issue center around having the same workgroup for all clients. Since I don't use the workgroup type of network and have a domain style network, I'm at a loss on how to get my Win7 client to see the other XP clients. Thanks in advance for any direction!

The fact that the workstations are on a domain instead of a workgroup makes no difference. It is still peer-peer file sharing. The only difference is the authentication level: If you are logged in as a Domain Admin, you have full admin rights on all pcs that are joined to the domain. This in fact makes trouble-shooting easier, if you are logged on as domain admin, because permissions are unlikely to be causing you problem. When you say "recognise", what exactly do you mean? Can you access shared folders on a Win7 machine from an XP one?

Thanks for answering my query Bigteddy. Yes, I can access the files on the Win 7 machine from the XP machines. When I open the Network folder in Windows Explorer on the Win7, I see the Sbserver and Win7 machine only - no signs of any of the other XP machines on the domain. Like I said, the two shared printers are functional across the network from Win7 machine.

Make sure that full network discovery is turned on on the Windows 7 machines. Please see the following article: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Enable-or-disable-network-discovery Post back here with your results.
