Windows 7 sharing with XP sp3..password?
I've got one laptop running XP with the printer attached. I've got a laptop and netbook, both running Windows 7. Set up the network and everything WAS running fine. Got up the next morning and now the 2 machines running Win7 cannot connect the the XP machine. When I click on the XP machine in Networks it asks for a user name and password, but nothing works. I've tried it with firewalls on and off. I've removed and created networks until I'm blue in the face. Any help here would be GREATLY appreciated! UPDATE - About 45 minutes after I posted on here, and after several hours of pulling my hair out, somehow everything magically works. I went through several sugestions from earlier posts without any luck, so I thought, but here's the gist. Turned on guest on the XP machine. Turned off password protected sharing on the Win7 machines. Besides that I don't know what else I might have accidentally done while going through virtually every setting on all 3 machines. Hope anyone else having this type of trouble gets something from this. Just hope everything is still gonna work in the a.m.. I've got 2 kids to homeschool and I don't want to get too far behind!

Create same user name & password on both machines will solve this issue. Enabling guest login is not a good idea! Vote As Helpful - if you find helpful :-)
