I too have the shields up and cannot access, nor am able to load certain programs. is there an answer from the microsoft Techs that can help? when I try to load updates I get error message Enviroment not found, when I want to access control panel, anything to do with parental controls/security has a shield beside it and cannot be opened.

Hi Darren, Do you mean that there is a mini shield icon appearing over the normal desktop icons on your computer? If so then you would need to be logged in as an adminsitrator to run them or at least have access to an adminsitrator password.
