I have been using a LaCie 2TB Ethernet drive for a number of years now. I using a windows home network (DHCP) I bought a new workstation that was temporarily shod with Vista64. (Core i7, asus PT6 WT pro mobo, Graphix NVidia Quadra FX3800, 12gb DDr3 1333mhz memory, system disc 2 x 150 veloceraptor in striping raid, data disc mirror raid.) I had some issues with Adobe CS4, but as far as the network was concerned it was OK except that it rejected the unsername / password on the ethernet drive. I upgraded to W7 as soon as the media arrived but this had the same problems. At Christmas I completely flattened the machien and loaded Windows 7 fresh. All the Aobe CS4 issues went away, but still it wont log onto the Ethernet Drive. I can log into the Ethernet Drive administrators control panel from a browser no problem accepting the username /password. I can even set up new users. But still it rejects the password. I have a number of XP pro and XP home machines on the same network that log in with no problems. The drive is listed in the network machines list and will go through the motions of logging in, but always rejects the password. I have even tried setting up a user with no password, but that didn't work either. The only clue I have is that in the username/password box it prefixes the login user name with the name of the computer ie MARVIN-PC\administrator. It may be that it doesn't actually send it's own name to the ethernet drive at all. I have no idea. This has been dogging me for months and the folk who sold me the workstation can't work it out and nor can the techies at LaCie. I can only think that this is a Windows issue. click the start button and type secpol.msc in the search function. Browse to "Local Policies" -> "Security Options". Now look for the entry "Network Security: LAN Manager authentication level" and open it. Click on the dropdown menu and select "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session security if negotiated". Apply the settings. In the Advanced sharing settings page of Network and sharing center, you need to have it set as Work/Home profile.
