Windows 7 reboots on its own
I'm having a problem on my Gateway FX6800 with 64-bit Windows 7 RC, rebooting on its own. It always happens when there has been no activity on the computer for a while. I come back tofind the computer rebooted and when I log in, I get a message box that the systemhad shut down unexpectedly or something to that effect. A friend suggested that there might be something happening when it is trying to go into a power saving mode, but I have been unable to confirm this.I have the PC set up to dual bootWindows 7 and Vista. This has not happened in Vista for the 2 months that I have had the computer. I only recently installed Windows 7, and I did not notice it until several days after I had Windows 7 installed. As much as I prefer Windows 7 over Vista, I'm going to return to Vista until I resolve this issue. If you have any suggestions on resolving this issue please let me know.

Hello Michael, According to your problem description, you might first remove all unnecessary hardware devices from the box and download and run Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to test whether your computer is compatible with Windows 7 OS. Then have a check in device manager to confirm there is no exclamatory mark or question mark. You'd better keep windows update regularly to obtain the latest driver for your device. Good Luck! Andy

Michael - Sounds like it's going into a BSOD when going in/coming out of sleep/hibernation mode. This is a known issue. 1.) Make sure you've got the most up to date drivers.2.) Make sure you've got the most up to date BIOS for the motherboard.3.) Check the Event Viewer to see if there are any reports in there regarding the BSODs.IF all else fails - disable power saving modes. If nothing else, you may want to just shut it down instead of putting it to sleep. Somewhat inconvenient, perhaps, but probably better than dealing with BSODs...
