Windows 7 reboot while copying files (Kernel-Power 41)
Hi guys, I just upgrade my Windows Vista Premium x86 to Windows 7 Ultimate x64, i install every drivers drivers and all its working fine, but when i was restoring my DATA backups, something happen:
Hi, For about a month now, while loading windows 7, the computer will just shut off. The only events logged are a critical Kernal-pwoer event id 41. It will either shut off while loading windows, at the log in screen, or shortly after logging in. Sometimes, upon re-boot, it will bring up "start up repair" screen, I run that and it always works. Sometimes, it does not bring up the start up repair screen, and goes to the safe mode option screen. Choosing "start windows normally" will usually result in the same shutting off sequence. When this happens, I do the same thing over and over again, and it will eventually stay on like normal. Sometimes, it will work the 2nd try, 1st try or 15th try. I have no clue what it could be. I put in a new PSU, re-compunded the heat sink and replaced the RAM. What could the problem be? Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate AMD 3800+ 1gb ram 160gb baracuuda HDD Joe
http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/w7itprogeneral/thread/47adb2d6-e544-4cac-96c4-6892c44fdb8e I experienced the same problem, but that problem only occurs during the data copy from drive to drive (External or same internal drive, from partition to partition). Dont say that is a hardware problem because i already change the drive and same problem occurs. Now i have a new one (Seagate momentus 7200rpm 16mb cache) and this problem it's in a notebook Asus M50SV. I already update the bios to last version (2.10 from december 2009), and it's the same thing.... When i put back the old vista hard drive everything works fine....so what do you think it is? I see lots of users with blue screens like this in seven....any solution? In event loger i have Kernel-Power 41 errors after the reboot. Thanks

First you need more RAM, 1 GB is not enough for 64-bit Windows. The minimum is 2GB for the 64-bit edition, 4GB is much better You might also want to get a bigger disk as well. Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)! IT/Developer, Windows/Linux/Mainframe RaidMax Smilodon, 680W, Asus M2NBP-VM CSM, AMD X2 4200+, 2GB DDR2-800, HD2400 Pro, more details on my site, need a new boot disk, existing one is 5 years old

I would suggest looking for updated chipset drivers as you are experiencing an ACPI related error.Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)! Hi CrustyD3mon, Would you please upload more minidump files? I cannot find the useful information from the one you uploaded. Based on the current situation, I would like to suggest you reset BIOS to default, then test the issue in Safe Mode and Clean Boot. What are the results in both modes? Regards,Arthur Li - MSFT

The BIOS its already with the default settings, but the problem presists, i will try Safe Mode and Clean Boot like you said, but the problem is that the crash don't happen always.... For example yesterday i copy about 30GB from external to the D:\ partition and everything goes well.... (this is after change SATA driver) i was thinking "My problem it's solved" before i copy about 20GB and .... REBOOT again!! I'll try do change my chipset drivers to, like Vegan Fanatic said..... I'll put more specific results here later.... Thanks guys

Hi, After analyzing the new minidump files, the possible cause I found is Csrss.exe. I would like to suggest you replace the Csrss.exe to check the issue. For the detailed steps of how to replace the Csrss.exe file, please refer to the following thread: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/w7itproperf/thread/d6dd4eb5-1af5-4253-a93c-180292bf241e Regards,Arthur Li - MSFT

You sugest a replacement in anyway? The system also reboot doing the same in in safe mode....... BIOS?

Hi, If the issue persists in Safe Mode, it should be a hardware issue. I would like to suggest you perform the following steps to narrow down the cause in Device Clean Boot. Device Clean Boot ============== Please unplug all unnecessary devices to test your computer's performance. In this situation, your system will only have the basic hardware devices and it should be more stable. If it is inconvenient to unplug the devices, we can disable them in Device Manager. Please refer to the following steps: 1. Click "Start", type "DEVMGMT.MSC" in the Search textbox and press Enter. Please click “Allow” if the User Account Control window is prompted. 2. Expand "Sound, video and game controllers". 3. Right click on your Sound Card, select "Properties" 4. Click "Driver" tab, click Disable (Disable the selected device). Click OK 5. Please use the same method to disable other hardware such as: Modem, network card, CD-R drive. Please note some devices such as video adapter are not available to be disabled. Then, restart your computer. Does it still crash now? If the system is stable, we can re-enable the devices one by one to narrow down the root cause. If the issue still persists, the motherboard or CPU may have problems. If that is the case, I recommend asking the computer vendor to examine it. Regards,Arthur Li - MSFT

I don't think that it is a faulty hardware problem.... because its everything working fine until i decide upgrade to windows 7 and patch my BIOS, so the most probable cause..... BIOS upgrade. So...i will downgrade from version 210 to the previews 270, and i will try before...if the problem pressists maybe its some incompatibility..and i need to put another version of seven or another OS. I will let you know about it later.... Thanks... EDIT: Problem already solved...it's BIOS problems. I blame the windows like always ehehe but this time probably without reason... Thanks
