Windows 7 pptp inconsistancy with android portable wireless hotspot
Got Wireless portable hotspot on android working, internet connectivity over Three's network, I can use my laptop to connect to my web server on my home network. - nice.
Got PPTP connection using MS-CHAP-v2 (Require Encryption) to my home Billion BiPac7900 router over a wired ADSL connection working, I have a secured (ish) connection into my home LAN - awsome.
2.1. Got same PPTP connection over wireless to Wireless Access Point:ADSL (same one as wired) router working - brilliant...
Try to use the same Windows 7 PPTP connection when connected to the Android Portable Wireless Hotspot (with verified internet access), I get 'connecting PPTP'... 'Verifying User name and Password' long pause... Error 619 on redial dialog.
3.1. Ok, maybe the Windows firewall is coming into play... big risk, disable the firewall for ALL locations - same result.
Ok, maybe it is the android device is causing the problem then, lets try this from another OS - whip out the disk with windows 7 from my laptop, replace with Fedora15 with same PPTP parameters configured - connects to wireless portable hotspot, with the
local firewall enabled and PPTP connects first time - so it is not the android device interefering with the data stream.
I could just use Fedora, since it works... but I want to know WHY windows 7 cannot make this particular connection and I want to be able to use windows 7 if I want to.
Lattitude D620 4gb Memory
Windows 7 64 SP1 fully patched
Sony Ericsson Experia LT15i with Android v2.3.4 Kernel 2.6.32.9, build 4.0.2.A.0.62
There MUST be loads of other people out there trying/doing the same, anyone got ideas?

Hi,
This error can occur by incompatible third party programs, incorrect network settings or conflicted driver. I suggest you try the following steps to troubleshoot
the issue.
1. Upgrade the NIC driver to the latest one.
2. Test the issue in
Clean Bootenvironment.

Thanks for the response.
It actually turned out to be this:
In the start menu search bar type in REGEDIT to open the registry editor. Navigate through the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\SERVICES\TCPIP6\PARAMETERS. In the right pane, right click Disabled Componets and select
edit. Set the DWord value to 0. Restart your computer and the teredo tunneling adapter will now start.
