We have an SBS2003 server as our primary server and recently replaced a second server on our network (replacing Server2000) with a new Dell Server and Server 2008. The install and data transfer all went well and things seem to be working good with one exception. If we save Word or Excel or basically any file to the Windows 2008 R2 server from a Windows XP workstation it works great. Very quick, and hardly see it occur. If we try the same experiment with one of our new Windows 7 workstations we get a lag in the save to the new Windows 2008 R2 server. Sometimes it saves quickly and other times we actually get a dialog box with the save status being reported. This is independent of the file size, small or large it makes no difference. We only have three Windows 7 workstations on our network and all three users noticed this right away. As I said, the Windows XP workstations don't show any of this. We have tried turning off indexing and a few other suggestions, RDC , and the like. Nothing has seem to affect this delay. We have Cisco Small Busniess Gigabyte switches on our network which are fairly new and we have no other known network issues going on. Everything else seems to work great. Any suggestions as why Windows 7 workstations are responding this way to our new Windows 2008 R2 file server.??

Hi, According to your description, I suggest to perform these tests to troubleshoot the issue: 1 Login with Clean Boot or Safe Mode with networking 2 Temporally disable antivirus software and firewall 3 Disable “Remote Differential Compression” in Control Panel-----Programs and Features-----Turn Windows features on or off.
