Windows 7 os imaging
Recently I installed the Windows 7 release candidate (64-bit). After getting a new hard drive, I decided to switch which hard drive I use for the system. Using imaging software, I created an image of the partition I was using for Win7, and proceeded to copy it to another hard drive. When I removed the original partition and tried to boot off the new drive, I was met with errors. I figured my imaging software would copy the mbr as well, but it didn't. So I used the recovery console from my installation cd and restored the mbr using bcdboot. That restored the bootloader correctly, but my os still wont boot. It gets to the cool new intro and then restarts. I still have the drive image and all the data, but I can't boot into windows. I have linux on another partition so I can still access files. Is there any tools I can use to restore the partition? Or will the os still point to the non-existent partition? And yes I realize my only option could be reinstallation.

You could try doing a repair installation over the new drive, that will keep your data intact.Windows 7 x64 RC, Asrock K8NF6P, AMD64 3200+, 1.5GB RAM, Palit Geforce 8400GS 256MB, 500GB Maxtor SataII, Asus 1814BLT optical
