Windows 7 old school domain window?
Greetings. When you joined a domain on a XP machine, the after the reboot a domain logon window pops up. With windows 7 Pro users get a normal login screen where they have to type in "Domain\Username & password" example: "UberDC\Hammerman & password". Is it possible to get the "old school" domain windows back in windows 7? Users get pretty confused when you have to type in the domian AND! their username, its so weird for them......... Any solutions? Thanks alot!

Hi, In Windows 2000 / XP you had an option of selecting the domain from a drop down list that you wished to log into. In Vista and Windows 7 you now have to remember and type the required domain as part of the username in order to log into the domain. While you can set the default logon domain in group policy so that it defaults to the domain you want. You can still find out the local station name by clicking on the link that tells you about logging on to different domains. It is in: launch group policy edit, navigate to: Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates> System > Logon : Assign a default domain for logon And with this little tweak: Computer Configuration > Windows settings > Security Settings > Security options: Interactive Logon: Don't display last username Regards,Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
