Windows 7 offline files permanently orphaned due to unrecoverable file server
I just picked up a project for a frantic client who had a Windows 7 laptop which had been configured for using offline files from a network share on a Windows 2008 Domain Controller. The Windows 7 laptop had been offline and the offline files had been updated for ~4 weeks when the Windows 2008 Domain Controller died without an OS backup or any way to repair the OS installation. The actual share data still exists on a separate hard drive within the Windows 2008 Domain Controller - only the OS partition was lost. The OS partition has been re-installed, but unfortunately now the the Windows 7 laptop has four weeks worth of updated files in the offline folder cache which are in a sense orphaned from being "sync-able" back to the network file share. I have not found any disaster recovery options for ensuring the updated offline file cache can be recovered and somehow restored to the rebuilt network file share. Any clues, tips, or ideas would be much appreciated.

Although I found no official Microsoft method to handle orphaned offline files/folders, I ended up just entrusting the file resynch to SynchBack from 2BrightSparks.
