Windows 7 not playing nice with Cirago CMC3000. User name and password never correct.
Purchased a Cirago CMC3000 which is a network media player. I am trying to setup streaming on it using Windows 7 64bit. Let me draw out a diagram of my network... Network Layout: CMC3000( 192.168.1.95)--*wired*--Wireless Range Expander--*wireless*--AT&T Gateway(192.168.1.254)--*wired*--Switch(Non-managed)--*wired*--Desktop(Auto)/Laptop(Auto) Workgroup: WORKGROUP Desktop: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit Laptop: Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit Range Expander: Hawking Technology (b/g) Switch: SMC 16 port Pretty plain and simple network except I am using the range expander as a wireless solution since it would take a long ethernet cable to reach the CMC3000 from the gateway but since the laptop has no problem the range expander is not at fault. I am basically trying to get the CMC3000 to recognize and stream from the Desktop. Currently the CMC3000 can successfully access the laptop and stream with no problems however the desktop is a different story and I have no idea why. The CMC3000 finds the WORKGROUP and I select my DESKTOP PC. I am prompted with a user name and password. I type in the user name and password I use to login to that computer which is the same procedure as with my laptop. The CMC3000 states "LOGON FAILED." I try it with my laptop and it states "LOGON SUCCESSFUL." The only major difference I can tell between the two computers is that one is a 64bit and one is a 32bit which in my book should not matter.I can also add a computer manually so I typed in the desktops network IP and still same problem with the ID and password not being liked. What I have done so far: 1. Uninstalled ALL third party firewalls (ZoneAlarm) and reset windows firewalls to defaults (Also toggling each individual exception as well as enabling all inbound and outbound). 2. Advanced Sharing Settings and performed the following... Home/Work Profile Turn on network discovery Turn on file and printer sharing Turn on sharing so anyone... Media Streaming is off (Is also off on laptop and laptop works just fine) Enable file sharing for devices that use 40... Turn off password protected sharing (Toggled this) Allow Windows to manage homegroup... 3. Made sure my networks are Home/Work and NOT public. 4. Laptop and Desktop are on the same WORKGROUP. 5. I can ping CMC3000 from both Desktop and laptop 6. Both desktop and laptop can file share between themselves as well as with the CMC3000 by navigating to START > NETWORK Bottom line is that the CMC3000 can successfully connect to my laptop which uses Windows 7 32bit but it cannot connect to my desktop which is using Windows 7 64bit. I have spent several hours combing the web searching for ideas including contacting Cirago tech support and we came to a conclusion that something is miss-configured with the operating system on the desktop pc. So I am seeking help from my fellow geeks in hope we can solve this aggravating and frustrating puzzle. I await your advice! Thanks you

NEW INFORMATION I shrunk my primary OS and made enough room for a dual boot both running windows 7 64bit. The new OS works perfectly with absolutely no problems with the CMC3000. I have come to a conclusion that something has been changed to make it not play very nicely with SAMBA which is what the CMC3000 is using to connect to my computers network.
