Windows 7 not connecting to Analysis Services 2005/08 using Excel 07
I'm running the Win7 that was released to MSDN subscribers ~ 6th AUg. Am trying to connect via Excel 2007 to either of 2008 or 2005 Analysis Services servers, neither work via Excel. I've been able to connect to both via SSMS (after turning off firewall on the server). I've tried turning the firewall off on the Win7 client also, still no dice in Excel 07. I went back to MSDN and downloaded the OLEDB/ADO drivers for SSAS 2005, installed, still doesn't work. The error message is the usual 'can;t connect, check browser service is running on server' . As mentioned, i've taken down windows firewall on the server (it was previously blocking the SSMS connectivity) plus I have ensured that sql browser service is actually running on the server. I'm out of ideas.... anyone got some to throw my way? Cheers, Steve.

I posted over on another msft forum, got no resposne there but after more searching last night I fixed it in-house here. The issue here was not having SPN's updated (well, not existing actually) on the SSAS server. I twigged to this after reading this post from a guy on the ProClarity team (BIG thanks Joey). The only thing I did differently to Joey was I rebooted both the client *and* the SSAS server (versus simply restarting the SSAS services).

I can connect to sql server and a cube with a xp or vista client, but not with win7
