Windows 7 networking
One of the biggest reasons i couldnt stand vista, was because of the bs way of networking. I was a fan of networking with xp, but you went and screwed that all up with vista, and now you just continue with 7...Networking doesnt have to be a pain in the ____ just to make it secure... hello? Simply want to share a folder. simplicity!!!! I got a feeling apple is going to be heckling the new 7. I'm running rc 7100, with all current updates and im not impressed. its really shiney though ;) Anyway, another problem im having is with windows media center freezing up using my hauppage tv card its a newer 1600. i can watch tv for about 30 minutes before it completely freezes up forcing an improper restart. I dont know that i would be releasing an OS that still has issues...could be shooting yourselves in the foot. I know that my wmc has nothing to do with my networking prob, but im just sick of this os already and dont really feel like posting another question about wmc. i've already got my order placed for 7 and im hoping i didnt make a mistake. i guess i could always go to unix/linux...

Hi, I am sorry to hear that you may be a little frustrated and please understand wewill do our best to help you on the issues you meet. Before moving on, I would like to let you know Windows 7 is a new operating system and contains many new features and technologies, such as networking, it is different from Windows XP. Also, it is always recommended to use newer version of software to enjoy new features and stabilities. However, some customers may meet difficulties because of the new features or different design of the new version of operating system. Regarding this Microsoft provides different support service offering to help our customer to better enjoy the new versions of our products, including CSS, forum, and so on. From your post, I think you may meet the following issue: 1. You found sharing files in Windows 7 is not simple. 2. The system hangs when watching TV with Windows Media Center. To avoid possible confusion and make our discussion clear, please post a new thread on the #2 issue in our forum and we will continue to help you and provide some suggestions on it. For #1, I would like to share the following documents with you: File sharing essentials Share files with someone Hope these can help you become familiar with sharing files in Windows 7. At this time, I would also provide you some basic troubleshooting suggestions on the #2 issue. If the issue is not resolved by these, please just post a new thread for your question on this issue. Thanks. 1. Please try the latest version of the software for Hauppage HVR-1600. Please Note: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information. 2. Please perform a Clean Boot to check the issue: Clean boot ================= 1) Click the Start Button type "msconfig" (without quotation marks) in the Search box, and then press Enter. Note: If prompted, please click Continue on the User Account Control (UAC) window. 2) Click the "Services" tab, check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" box and click "Disable All" (if it is not gray). 3) Click the "Startup" tab, click "Disable All" and click "OK". Then, restart the computer. When the "System Configuration Utility" window appears, please check the "Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows starts" box and click OK. NOTE: we can go back to normal boot by running msconfig again and checking on Normal Startup in the General tab. In the Clean Boot Environment, the third party services and applications are disabled, please run Windows Media Center and watch TV to see if the issue will occur. If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to one application or service we have disabled. You may use the MSCONFIG tool again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to find out the culprit. Thanks. Nicholas Li - MSFT

I appreciate you trying to help, but on both of these problems I'm experiencing, I have done everything you have suggested before posting my rant. I'm certain that the os that I am running is flawed and that is why its an rc....I, however; hope that when I do receive my actual os that these problems will have been solved. Thank you
