Windows 7 network drive offline/online question
I have a user who works from home. They are using windows 7 and have a mapped drive to a network share. That network share has been set to be available at all times. He VPN's in and is able to access files and email. I have not figured out why his network drive stopped going "online" when he VPNs in. The AD server we have is 2003. The other strange thing is though his network drive is "offline" i see some files that are being copied over to the server but he never sees the drive say "online" Exchange emails come in fine which means he is connecting to the network but the dang network drive is not consistantly connecting. What the heck is going on? Is this a flaw/bug of Windows 7?

Hi, This symptom can occur if you configure the VPN connection to use the default gateway on the remote network. You can clear the "Use default gateway on remote network" check box. For more information, please refer to the following article: You Cannot Connect to the Internet After You Connect to a VPN Server Thanks, Novak

Sorry for the late response but this also happens to users who are connected in the office with Windows 7. I get the error message "location not available. F:refers to a location that is unavailable." the message will go away usually between 2-5 minutes and access to the drives becomes restored but it will show up again. I have not seen a concrete fix for this. What can be causing the network shares from doing this in Windows 7?
