Windows 7 netwoking
Setup: Windows 7 RC with XP Mode installed, Workgroup- Windows XP Pro and XP Home, Domain- W2K3 Server, 48 port Switch, Linksys WRT54g router to broadband Internet, DNS Server Opendns.com. My problems: I can see all computers from Win7 machine, workgroup and domain. I can see all workgroup computers from WinXP. If I connect to other Win XP Home computer it shows shared drives almost instantly. If I try to connect to Win7 computer it takes about 5-6 seconds to show shared drives. From Win7 all connects are almost immediate. Why so long to connect to Win 7 Computer??Problem 2: When I try to RDP to Win7 using it's computer name it won't connect. If I use it's IP address ( local intranet 10.2.5.0/24 ) it connects instantly. IfI ping the Win7 computer using it's Local IP address it replies with that address. If I use the computer name it replies with an internet IP address as does the WinXP Home computer. What am I doing wrong??

It appears you have an internal DNS problem on this machine. Can you connect to other computers using computer names while not using RDP?
