I am using windows 7 and I have a VPN connection that I use to connect to the main network at work. I launch VPN to connect everything connects fine and I can ping the network. After an hour or maybe less from connecting without a problem suddenly stops communicating with the servers while VPN still shows connected to network at my work place. I did not experience this problem on windows XP any suggestions? Thank you

Hi First you can try disable auto-tuning by the following steps: 1, Run as administrator to open CMD. 2, Use the following command to disable auto-tuning. netsh interface tcp set global autotuning=disabled 3, Use the following command to verify that it is disabled. netsh interface tcp show global If it does not help, please confirm whether the issue is on client site or server site, you can use another Windows 7 client in the network of your workplace's site to check. Please let us know if you are using Microsoft VPN server and client or third party VPN services. Otherwise you can try setup lower MTU in your router setting. You need also to check the local anti-virus and firewall, it's better to disable them. I look forward to your update.

I have the same problem. I connect from Windows 7 64 bit to SBS2003 Server with a VPN connection. I then use RDP to connect either from my home computer to work computer, or vise versa. When connecting from the windows 7 desktop to the Vista desktop at work, if I leave the session idle for a period of time it seems to lose the connection. If I try to connect from the vista desktop at work to the windows 7 desktop at home using the network IP (such as 10.0.0.9), it cannot locate the ip, I cannot ping that address either. If I connect via its internet IP (such as 173.24.36.89:3389) it seems to wake up the vpn connction and re-establish the network ip for the windows 7 desktop. I can then reconnect using the network ip of 10.0.0.9. Did the solution below work for you?
