Windows 7 looses access to shared folders
Pc is a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC The problem is a follows Windows 7 laptop have lost access to my shared folders on my windows XP desktop. My windows XP desktop can see the shared folders on my windows 7 laptop. Also the function \\11.11.11.11\ doesnt work "ip is made up. and is in the allowed range" Things I know. I got this problem the first time about 4-5 months after I bought the Laptop. The problem can be fixed by using a restoration point. the amount of time from the restoration point use decides when the problem starts again. I reinstalled the PC and 4-5 months later the problems come back. I now have a Restoration point that takes me back 6 days before the problem comes. And I have tested it. The way the error occurs makes me suspect that there is a timer, somewhere triggering it. Diagnostic. Windows 7 can not find any problems Internet works. Pinning works. Restoration shows that only one program have been change. (Microsoft Remote Desktop Services (printer) 06/21/2006 6. 1. 7600. 16385) Any help or thought is appreciated Just ran a test with "net view" got error 53

Try un-sharing the folders on Windows XP and set up the share again. Make sure that the account you are logging on as on Windows 7 is given the necessary permissions to the shared folders on Windows XP. Can you ping the Windows XP computer from the Windows 7 computer? Make sure file and printer sharing is turned on from the Windows XP computer.

I use Windows 7 Pro. I was having a similar issue for months, but I could re-connect to my shared folders if I disabled/enabled the wireless network adapter. Once it was re-enabled, I had access to the shared folder on my 2003 server for an hour or 2. Later, I would attempt to access it, and it could not connect. I have a Broadcom 802.11 adapter and solved my problem by going to the HP website and downloading an earlier version of the driver for my laptop. Not sure if this is your issue, but installing an earlier driver worked for me.
