Windows 7 locks folder on Window server 2003
Hi We have the following two strange behaviors with Windows 7: 1) Looking with explorer to a folder on a Windows server 2003 , where zip files are in that folder. Another process tries to add a file to one of the zipfiles. The functionality that does this gets an error "File currently locked by another user". If we do the same from a Windows XP , no problem. 2) We have a Windows 2003 server with a shared folder. 4 other pc's run bat files that delete files from and copy files to that folder. Running fine for years now with all pc's running Windows XP. Now we replaced one PC by a PC with Windows 7. We now see that sometimes (we thinks wheh the Windows 7 pc is accessing the folder) the other pc bat files can not delete files anymore. Any idea whats going on?

I think you are having with permission issue. Please check with all permission settings. before you do that, You may want to do ownership with proper account. Visit the website, I will make a post that talke about how to take Ownership www.zon-ze.com #1 problem could be permission too but it seems one of users is connected to it. Iif it is not the case, check any process try to access it or any software try to access that folder.

Hi, Based on my research, please check if deleting and copying files to that folder manually instead of using the bat files will also cause the issue. If not, the issue may be related to the bat files, please double check them. Hope this helps. Jeremy Wu TechNet Community Support
