Windows 7 locking up
1. Would you reveal the content of Event logs? It is helpful to have any trace to origin of problem. 2. When starting operating system go via F8 into menu and there is one item that helps you to discover what happens in boot phase. 3. Look into Device manager and see if there is any problem. 4. Run sfc /scannow 5. Run clean boot Regards Milos

I recently Purchased a TV Tuner card and turned my PC into a HTPC, the E6750 stock fan was a little noisy so I upgraded to a Thermal Take Frio cooler, I have the fan running on its slowest setting and the CPU runs around 31C watching the tv, but about every 3 weeks the pc locks up, seems to do it randomly. at first I thought it was the tv card but seeing as its locking up, normally this means something to do with the processor rather than a driver issue, I built a pc for a friend who said his pc has run great for a year but last week it locked up and now has trouble starting, event vwr has stopped logging the boot times which I set up so I cant find what driver is causing it, has windows 7 got known issues? both pc's are running sp1. Regards Darren

Hi Milos, I have dissabled everything in event msconfig- start up and services, but when i boot windows 7 the splash screen starts, the hard drive starts working for about 1 minute then hangs for 20 minutes, when the machine finally starts everything seems to be working normally. is there anyway i can find what the cause is of this? I read the vista resource (do not have win7 reource kit) and it mentioned about enabling boot logging, i did this and read both logs side by side, there was hundreds of enteries in both txt docs, some drivers loaded and some did not, not necessarily in the same order which confuses me. When I first had trouble with this pc (6 months ago) i created some custom event viewer entries for the boot times and boot troubleshooting but for some reason these have stopped working, other event enteries are being added but not for the custom enteries i created. do you or anyone know why this might be? its looking like its best to re-image the hdd but i hate doing this, its like killing a patient because he's got a broken leg. Regards Darren ps: looks like you where right, i just checked device manager and the G31 chipset is having problems, yellow exlamation mark. I downloaded the inf driver from asrock and it hasnt fixed it and there isnt a downloadable bios update either. any suggestions.
