Windows 7 issue with Halo: CE
Well, I tried to run several programs on Win7 and they all worked fine. Eventually, I wanted to install Halo: CE. No problems until I wanted to start the game, double-clicking on the desktop icon. A message popped up, telling me that an unsuccessful attempt to open DirectDraw occured. For your information some details about my laptop:HP Pavillion dv6871usIntel Core 2 Duo T5550 @ ~1.83GHz3.0GB DDR2 RAMGeforce 8400M 300 GB HDD (30GB partition for Win7), dual boot with Vista.Maybe the fact i didn't connect Win 7 to the Internet yet (first I wanted to downloaded Security programs like Avira in Vista, put them on my flash drive and installed them from there in Win7) is responsible for DirectX drivers or other drivers not to work properly. But if anyone has suggestions, would be cool guys {o.o}~

you might want to at least connect and pull updates, but also, you might want to try running it in compatibility mode (right click on the icon, go to the compatibility tab, click the boxand select Xp SP2)Hope this helps!

not sure what your problem is, only comfort i can give you is that i use ce under win 7 and it works fine, same as lots of people i play with. hopefully you can sort out what your specific issue is. cheers, btw, have you tried doing the manual update ""haloupdate.exe"?

I have Halo and Halo 2 on my machine and both work fine. Unfortunately the Halo 2 server has been a bit dodgy for inline play but the game works fine otherwise. I still play Halo once in a while at legendary settings. This way all the bug types are in abundance. Vote if answered or helpful, I am running for Office (joke)! i found halo 2 to be doggy too. believe it or not, but when i logged into windows live firstly, and then played, gameplay was fine. try that and let me know how you go.

The only problem I have with Halo 2 is remembering that I want 1600x1200 rather than 1280x1024. Sometimes the live is slow but that is due more to my ISP than anything. My MVP is for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 IT, and I am getting increasingly good with Visual Studio. Developer | Windows IT | Chess | Economics | Hardcore Games | Vegan Advocate | PC Reviews
