Windows 7 is not able to join domain on sbs2003 server
Hello,My client system is running Windows 7 Ultimate and it is not able to join the domain. Each time I try I receive and error stating:An attempt to resolve the DNS name of a domin controller is the domain being joined has failed. Please verify this client is configured to reach a DNS server that can resolve DNS names in the target domain. I was able to join the domain with no problems with Windows XP Pro. I have tried to remove and reinstall the computer to the domain which also did not work.If there is any information that I might have left out please let me know.Any suggestions?Thank you

and when you run the command NSLOOKUP what was the result? Can you ping the DNS server? Do you have ISA Server 2000 or 2004 in the mix? If so read this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/887222/en-us be sure to disable the firewall on the Windows 7 machine. Also disable the power saving features on the NIC's, that can cause a real pain for domain users.MCSE, MCSA, MCDST [If this post helps to resolve your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" button at the top of this message. Hi, Try to create a new Organizational Unit and tell it not to inherit any policies. Putting the Windows 7 computer in the OU with no policies. Then try to join the domain again. To create OU, please refer to the link below: Create a new Organizational Unit Thanks, Novak
