Windows 7 internet sharing, dropped IP/Then lost network access
First off, i was trying to figure out how to share cricket wireless over a network. I had it going once before by sharing the internet connection, but the next day the other computers could not see the connection anymore. no settings changed, it just simply wasn't sharing anymore. Now the the computer that i was trying to share the internet with has no network access at all. I checked all setting, from the homegroup settings, files sharing and network power settings. Nothing change, the computer just never auto assigns the network address. i tried manual but it still wouldn't connectI am using a switch instead of a router, but i assumed it should still work. no?

Hi, First, I would like to confirm several questions: 1. Why would like to use Switcher instead of Router? Is the router a Wireless router? 2. How many machines are there in the network? Are they connected to Internet via Wireless or wired cable? Since the host machine also cannot connect Internet, I suggest you bypass the Switcher and Router, and then connect to DSL modem directly via wired cable for a test. Can the machine access Internet now? If not, you may need involve the ISP for further assistance. Otherwise, please use the router and then access Internet again. In addition, to share Internet, you can refer to the following articles. Set up a wireless network without a router ICS Host Computer Setup – Windows Vista Thanks, Novak

1. i am using a wired switch because it is all i have. "Why would like to use Switcher instead of Router?", this doesn't make any sense.2. there is only the host computer plus two others, all running win 7 ult.3. I'M USING CRICKET! not dsl. the cricket uses the 3G network.4. i never said the host computer lost internet. i said the connecting computers could not access the shared internet connection.I figured its just one of those windows fluke with networking. the IP like it has since xp will drop for no reason only to come back magicly a couple days later. though, i found that i need to use a 3G router with the cricket, but thanks for your........... help?
