Windows 7 internet access for publiic network
I have full internet access on a local home network in windows 7; but i am unable to get access on a "unidentified network, public network, which states "no newtork access" local area connection 2. Anyone have this problem? Thanks for any suggestions.Michael A. Miller

How many network adapters do you enable? You should just keep one of them connected. If there is only one connection, I suggest you download the Windows 7 compatible network adapter driver. Then remove the network adapter driver from Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Programs and install the new driver. Under device manager on the Host there are four (4) network adapters listed: 1. For WiFi - not currently used in this configuration 2. For Internet access - used to get internet connection. 3. For client computer - used to share internet with client. 4. Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller - I don't know what this is for. I have not checked what is on the Client, I will check and reply ASAP.Michael A. Miller

In the Client there are just two: 1. For WiFi 2. For connection to the Host. I disabled the WiFi in both with no change. I found that disabling the Family Contoller disables the Internet accessMichael A. Miller

Please open Network and Sharing Center, then click Change Adapter Settings. If Local Network Connection 2 exists, disable it. You may try to remove it if it is possible. If it does not help, please run ipconfig/all and let us know the result. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. I disabled local network 2 (labeled as a Public Network) and I lost connection to the XP Client, while retaining internet access to the Host. I did try the ipconfig/all, both with and without Local network 2, and this did not help.Michael A. Miller

So you connect to Internet with a network adapter and connect to your Windows XP computer with another adapter. Is that correct? If so, this is normal beahvior. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Yes, that is correct. The Host or Windows 7 machine is defined as a Local Network, a work group. The Client network, is defined as Local Network Number 2, a public network. The Local Network has Internet Access. The Public Network does not and this is my problem. On the Local network I have checked the box to share the Internet access with and here I was able to designate Local Network 2; but I still have not been able to get Internet Access established. Thanks for your help, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions to resolve this issue.Michael A. Miller
