Windows 7 improperly shuts down on its own
Hi, My computer was running perfectly until after I did a Windows Update yesterday. I installed 26 important updates on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64 machine. And now, when I boot the computer and log on, the computer improperly shuts down without any warning in about 10 minutes (after boot). However, it does not do this when I enter Safe Mode with Networking. I do not want to roll back the computer using System Restore (i.e., I want to keep the updates). I don't know what is triggering the shutoff. I think it shuts off by itself when I don't use the computer by using the keyboard, mouse, etc. When I let it idle and walk away from my desk, I come back to find it being shut off. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much. quick

Check Event Log (search Event Viewer in Start) whether you find some relevant information around the time it shut down. Also, check your computer for malvare infections.

Since it works in Safe Mode, try the Clean Boot diagnostic procedure. Jerry

I fixed it. Windows Update disabled a service from my Antivirus program and I enabled it. After that the problem went away. I guess this is the solution :-)
