I've been running Windows 7 for a while now without incident (until now, at least). I'd been using a wireless card to connect to the internet, which was working fine, until the computer froze. Upon restart, it would no longer detect the wireless card. At first, I thought it was only not detecting the wireless network, but after reading some of the other threads here and trying some of the stuff in them, I realized that Windows isn't detecting the wireless card itself. I switched it out with another one to see if it was the card, but that was a no go. I would like to know what else I could do to get this taken care of. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try uninstalling the card from device manager and allow Windows to re-detect it.

That's the problem, the wireless card doesn't even show up in the device manager. Now, I did see that the on-board ethernet was having problems (Code 10, could not start), so I tried what you said there, but Windows said that the device wasn't installed properly.

And you thought computers did not have a sense of humor. Ha. With certain operating systems, they will end up with a different set of running services and tasks each time you boot. How? Effing magic. Where did they hide the device manager in '7'? Everything else seems to be different. Oh, wait, that has never happened before! What's up with that? Never mind, I am trying to be humorous. Good luck with your wireless NIC. If I were poking around, I'd bet that you got a New! Improved! driver that wasn't, but was automatically downloaded and installed. But, what do I know. Try going back to the day before it quit working, if possible. tom
