Windows 7 firewal and FTP
I am hosting an FTP server on my windows 7 machine. Now I made sure that on the firewall ftp port 21 was open for Domain, Provate and Public firewalls... but i cannot access the ftp from another machine. I tried narrowing down what the issue was, and got to the point where if I turn off the DOMAIN firewall.. it works, but when I re-enable it does not. And I checked in the domain firewall settings and fto is open... anyone have any idea?-mi

nevermind, I had to add it manually, specifying port 21 the default ftp setting did not work.-mi

Hi, Thanks for posting in Microsoft TechNet forums. Please allow the “Host Process for Windows Services” in Windows Firewall. 1) Click Start and type: Windows Firewall in the Start Search box. 2) Click on “Allow programs to communicate through Windows Firewall” and press Enter. 3) Click Change Settings and click Allow another program. 4) Click Browse and find the file: C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe. 5) Click Add, ensure the box in front of “ Host Process for Windows Services” is checked, and Domain box is selected. 6) Click OK.
