Windows 7 file size splitting
I use a reporting application that creates output in html, Word or Excel. The app splits the file if it hits 25 mgb. Works fine in XP but having upgraded to windows 7 recently it does not always split the files when they hit the specified size limit. Any thoughts?. Thanks in advance

I haven't seen any behavior in Windows 7 in general that implies it would do that. What application is it? Does the maker claim Windows 7 compatibility? -Noel

It's something we built in-house, haven't had any other issues with it on Windows 7. Appreciate your time. Regards Gordon

For what it's worth, I have written apps recently that do file access, and the exact calls I use for XP file access seem to run perfectly on Windows 7, right down to the same behavior for renaming files that are open by another process (which surprised me, actually). -Noel

Thanks for the feedback, will try debug to track it down.

Hi, What is the result if you right click on the application and run it under Compatibility Mode? Regards Arthur Li - MSFT

One of our more technical people made a small change that appears to have fixed the issue. Something to do with the app previously looking at the file length which appeared OK in XP but now looking at the file body size, was concerned abut possible performance impact but all seems fine. Thanks for taking the time to look into this. Regards Gordon
