Windows 7 explorer print dialouge prints everything very light.
Hi, I have a client who has been having this issue. I spent an hour on the phone with Canon support and they don't know what is causing the issue. The client has a Dell Inspiron 620 with a canon MP 280 inkjet printer. He first installed it and it worked fine for about a week. Now when we were diagnosing it, everything printed from explorer's dialouge seems way too light, almost like the contrast is set too low. We've completely uninstalled and reinstalled the canon drivers (with the proper double reboot in the middle) Same result. I've installed canon's recommended colour profile with the same result. I've manually adjusted the brightness and contrast to similar results. I've now reset all the settings I could think of for the print dialouge as well as restarted the print spooler to the same result. If I drag the picture into chrome though and use chrome's print dialouge it seems totally fine. Where should I look now? And a system restore is out of the question as there are too many settings to change back assuming it fixes the problem. Thanks! <EDIT> I should also mention we have done the usual inkjet diagnosis steps as well. We have done a full print head alignment, cleaning, calibration and have even replaced the cartridges with another set. To the same result. </EDIT>

Hi, I would like to verify if explorer means Internet Explorer. Does any other application print correctly such as word? If the issue occurs in Internet Explorer, you can try the following methods. 1. Compatibility view http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Why-do-some-webpages-look-incorrect-in-Internet-Explorer-9 2. Reset Internet Explorer http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Reset-Internet-Explorer-settings-in-Internet-Explorer-9 3. Test the issue in clean boot. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Best Regards, NikiPlease remember to click "Mark as Answer" on the post that helps you, and to click "Unmark as Answer" if a marked post does not actually answer your question. No. By explorer I mean the print dialogue that is built into the 'explorer.exe'. Not the print dialogue built into Internet Explorer. Though seeing as the dialouge is essentially the same beast, the issue does exist in Internet Explorer as well. However, the issue is not just limited to Internet Explorer. Even from microsoft picture viewer the prints from there are washed out and faded. As I stated, Google Chrome prints everything within acceptable tolerances, but only if it is using chrome's built in printing engine. If I select to use window's print dialogue while in chrome, it will give me faded/ washed out results. Is there a command that can be run to purge any and all changes to the settings in the explorer's print dialogue? I am a technician so dealing with registry keys and such are no big deal to me, I've just never dealt with a problem like this before. Thanks for the input. <EDIT> Clean boot has the same issues as a normal boot, faded/washed out print results. </EDIT>

Hi, How about removing all configurations of the printer in Windows 7, then re-configuring it again? Clear Printer Spooler files and enable the spooler service ----------------------------------------- 1. Click the Start Button, type "Services" (without the quotation marks) in the open box and click OK. 2. Double-click "Printer Spooler" in the Services list. 3. Click Stop and click OK. 4. Click the Start Button, navigate to "%WINDIR%\system32\spool\printers" folder, and delete all files in this folder. 5. Click the Start Button, click Run, type "Services" (without the quotation marks) in the open box and click OK. 6. Double-click "Printer Spooler" in the Services list. Hi Niki, Do you know if there is any way of getting IE9 to print properly on Windows 7? It prints pages so lightly they're useless, and selections are printed very small as well. Please don't guess, and please don't just list off a bunch of links. Please limit your answer to something that is known to be a definitive fix, or, in the alternative, please state that you really have no answer other than guessing and hoping links and maintenance steps *** might *** be of some use. My request is for an actual, known fix for this latest version of IE's printing problems. If you don't actually know of a proven, definitive fix, please say so.
