Windows 7 erased my hidden recovery partitions?
I have an Acer computer with two hidden partitions, one 15gb and another 3gb, on both sides (start and end) of the drive. In Computer Management > Disk Management, they both now show as 100% free space in both Vista and Windows 7, and I cannot do anything to them in Disk Management (at least in Vista which I am using now).Has anyone had this happen? Are they actually erased/deleted or is Disk Management lying to me?I think they may have been deleted, because one of the partitions uses the auto on DVD player function and now this no longer works. If so, major bug you guys want to look into.

Did you choose advanced disk options when you installed Windows 7?Do you have a single hard drive or do you have 2 separate hard drives in your system?

Sorry for not getting back. But no, I don't remembr setting any options about advanced disk options. And I only have one HD, two separate partitions. Previously installed along with the hidden partitions on the disk.

Sorry, but if you just simply installed 7 and did not specify which partition to use (and not use) then Windows probably used the entire disk. If that is the case it is not a bug. So, did you make a set of recovery CDs or DVD for your system or lots of Acers come with a set of factory restore disks. If you did not do that and do not have any original software you can normally contact the computer manufacturer and purchase a copy for a minimal change. Probably not the answer you hoped for, but perhaps it gives you some options. Bob

I installed as a dual-boot with a Vista install, so it didn't install to the entire drive.Interestingly, one of the partitions (the video-player one) has somehow associated itself and now shows up as a HD on Windows 7 with most of its stuff on it. The other one still shows up as a 15gb partition that is 0%I have recovery CDs and such, I'm not sure if they repair the system partitions as well in the process. Its not a huge deal to me, I could just reinstall something completely anyway, but I thout it might be a more serious bug.
