Windows 7 editions
I think 2 (and maybe 3) editions are enough. I think Windows 7 Home Premium for consumers, and Windows 7 Professional for businesses and maybe the Enterprise edition should be all that is needed.

While there will be two primary versions available the lineup will have six version world-wide. Windows Home Basic emerging markets only Windows Starter Edition OEM installed for specific hardware types Windows Home Premium Retail Windows Professional Retail Windows Ultimate Retail includes all features Windows Enterprise Corporate only, purchased through LARs or Enterprise Agreements, includes all features This is a more streamlined product list than XP or VISTA,with three products available to the general public and four products available to companies. While there is a Starter Edition, I believe it will be distributed in small numbers, with most customers opting for Home Premium or Professional.

Found at http://arstechnica.com Windows Ultimate won't be sold at retail, but it will be offered for sale during some promotional periods, Microsoft does not plan to create Ultimate Extras.
