Windows 7 domain with Server 2003
I'm having trouble getting Windows 7 Ultimate to connect with my Windows 2003 Server. I'm trying to put it on a domain. But when I do use the wizard or the manual way I get the same error message: Any ideas? Thanks in advance! The domain name "CMOHAA" might be a NetBIOS domain name. If this is the case, verify that the domain name is properly registered with WINS. If you are certain that the name is not a NetBIOS domain name, then the following information can help you troubleshoot your DNS configuration. The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate an Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) for domain "CMOHAA": The error was: "DNS name does not exist." (error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR) The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.CMOHAA Common causes of this error include the following: - The DNS SRV records required to locate a AD DC for the domain are not registered in DNS. These records are registered with a DNS server automatically when a AD DC is added to a domain. They are updated by the AD DC at set intervals. This computer is configured to use DNS servers with the following IP addresses: 192.168.254.19 - One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child zone: CMOHAA . (the root zone)

Are you using a single label domain name, rather than something like cmohaa.local?Visit: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.

Make sure that your Windows 7's TCP IP configuration is correct, specifically its client DNS settings. The computers in your internal network should be pointing to an internal DNS server hosting the AD zone, typically its going to be your DCs running DNS. Then from the computer's system properties, join it to the domain and specify cmohaa.info as the domain name. if you do not fully qualify the name, the computer will try to resolve the domain name as a NetBIOS name which is supported, but requires a NetBIOS name resolution service such as WINS.Visit: anITKB.com, an IT Knowledge Base.
