Windows 7 doesn't show up in Vista network map
Windows 7 Network map can see others and put them in the map properly, but Vista doesn't seem to understand where Windows 7 is, like XP without Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder installled. I was wondering when will Microsoft will have a patch for this issue, probably LLTD update for Vista? Or is there anything I miss to get it work properly? Windows 7 is in home network, anything works perfectly, just doesn't show up in the Vista network map properly.

This forum is for Windows 7 issues. There is a separate forum for Windows Vista here .

Well, if you look at another side of the coin, it will be "what protocol does Win7 use differently?" Is that Win7-related question yet? By the way, I like this forum quite a lot, but all improper "Marked as Answer" kills it. If there is no answer really, why bother? Do you do this forum for statistics or helping others? I don't know if that is policy that all questions need to be answered or not, but that is not good.

You are asking when an update for Windows Vista will be released. That won't be answered in the Windows 7 forums. Your Windows 7 can see the Vista machine. So there is nothing that Windows 7 needs to do. This is a Windows Vista concern. However, have you removed your Windows 7 machine from HomeGroup and added it to the same group as Windows Vista? If you are still in HomeGroup that could explain Windows Vista not seeing your Windows 7 machine. If not, then you are definitely looking at a Windows Vista issue. There was no improper use of marked as answer, if your question has no Windows 7 issues, then the answer is that it is a Windows Vista issue.

This is my question which I am not even sure if it's about protocol, so that definitely is Win7 question. Have you tried to do this so far? I might be wrong, but the way you answer showed that you haven't tried. Just so you know, I don't even configure for HomeGroup. They all are in the same workgroup. I can tell you right now that if I ask this question in Vista, folks over there will tell me the same thing as you. It's Win7 related issue, go ask in Win 7 forum.
