Windows 7 doesn't see even itself in network
Hi,
I have one Windows 7 and one Windows XP computer, as well as D-Link DIR 655 router (IP4 only). I am trying to create local network, but Windows 7 computer "doesn't see" even itself in network.
When I type its network address manually (like \\windows7\), it opens my computer and shows 2 shared folder: Users and Shared, however, when I try to open any of these folders, it shows error "Check the spelling of the name".
I disabled firewall at all, but this problem continues to appear.
What is reason, how to fix it?

under network and sharing
change network type to home or work
under advanced sharing
home/work
enable network discovery and file and print sharing

It doesn't help, because Windows 7 computer can not access even its own shares.
When I open it (my own shares), it writes "check computer name spelling" even if I click by this computer icon in "Network", so it is impossible that I made spelling error.
I tried to set both "work" and "home", I tried to use and not to use "home group", however, Windows 7 computer can never see other computer (XP) and access even own Windows 7 shares, Windows XP computer from the other hand sees own shares, but doesn't see
Windows 7 computer.
It is really strange for me why it can not see own shares, even with disabled firewall.

Hi,
Please update your network adapter driver from manufacture's website first. Then open
Network and Sharing Center, under View your active networks, verify the network name and network location. It should be a home or work network. Also check if you can see full map.
Meanwhile, click Start -> type
sysdm.cpl in the search box, press Enter -> on Computer Name tab, verify the workgroup name is the same as the one on Windows XP.

Make sure you have connected that Windows 7 computer to wireless network successfully, check out this
