Windows 7 doesn't remember the display after sleeping
I'm using Windows 7 x64 on my Dell Latitude D630 laptop. The latest Nvidia driver for Quadro NVS 135M is installed. I have two monitors: the laptop display and the external Dell 2009W. I use Dell as my main monitor, so I set this in both Personalize and Nvidia windows. The computer loads and shows the monitor correctly, but when I open the lid after the sleeping mode, it's always the laptop display that is working. I have to switch to the external Dell manually. Nothing like this happened in XP or Vista. Any ideas how I can fix it?

Hi Therewere several well documented bugs in the Windows 7 RC build associated with this issue. The bug appears when a hardware/software component fails to re-initializewhen the system resumes from Sleep or Hibernation or will not enter the suspend state. These bugswas seenon specific systems that havecombinations of certain hardware/software installed. We are currently evaluating the RTM build to see if these particular problems have been resolved. See the following link for a list of other threads hereon this topic and some fixes/workarounds that have been posted. Sleep/Hibernate Issues - Microsoft TechNet Forums SearchUpdated: Some users have reported that this bug still exists, to some extent,in the RTM build. Work on this continues and hopefully will be resolved soon. Be sure to check Windows Update often and look for compatibility updates. This particular bug has been tough to squash because it was associated with several different Bios/hardware/driver combinations. Hope this helps.Thank You for testing Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

I've been having similar issue with a desktop PC. I have 3 monitors connected to my desktop. Two of the monitors are connected via single PCI Express card, and the 3rd monitor is connected via an EVGA UV+ 12 USB display extender. Every time the displays go to sleep after about 20 minutes, the first two monitors come back on successfully but the 3rd one stays off. I have to manually turn the display off then turn it back on again to fix each time. Hope the fix noted here will address this issue as well.

Dell issued a new 2009W monitor driver for windows 7. I installed it, and now Windows 7 correctly remembers the resolution, but it still recovers from the sleeping mode with two displays active. I believeall thisis the driver compatibility issue, because in Windows 7 I can only use 59 Hz(60 Hz is available but won't work) on my monitor, while in Windows XP the driver correctly selects 60 Hz.

I updated the NVIDIA driver to the latest 195.62, but the bug is still there.
