Windows 7 does not fully turn off my screens (monitors), instead it sends a completely black picture to the devices.
Hi, My monitor is an old 3:4 CRT device which takes 5 seconds to come back from its off-state. At least that is how it used to work in Windows XP... But after I upgraded to Windows 7, I noticed it comes back instantly after a sleep. This worries me as I believe Windows is never telling the monitor to turn off completely. It just broadcasts a constant black image, which wastes electricity and produces a very faint sound (terribly annoying at night time when everything is in perfect silence). I often run a dual screen setup (The other screen being a huge flat TV) and when windows 7 enters sleep-mode it forgets to turn off the TV's backlight. This LCD backlight greatly illuminates my room until someone turns off the TV with the remote. I was unsuccessful at finding a solution via search, so I turn to you. Sincerely, Daniel "3ICE" Berezvai p.s.: Not sure if this belongs in Hardware compatibility or Miscellaneous.

I have solved this problem by turning off my screen saver (the basic "blank screen" one). Both sleep mode and the screen saver were set to exactly 1 minute timeout and it seems the screen saver "won". --3ICE (Double post justified because it is the solution.)http://3ice.hu/
