Windows 7 display problem
I have a 22 inch LCD monitor(DVI) and a 26 in LCD tv(HDMI) both connected to my computer. I want the 22 inch monitor to be my default, but when I watch videos, I want them to display on the TV. Is there some way I can have Windows change my display settings when the TV is powered on? I want my computer to display only on my monitor normally, but have it so when I power on the TV, the display setting changes and now extends my desktop on to the TV. And I would also like it to change my display setting back to a single display after I power off the TV. For reference I have an ATI 4830 video card.

Hi I doubt that the scenario you describe can be implemented with the settings available in the OS. You may be able to do this by using a hardware KVM switch. A good resource for information is the ATI Graphic support forums. There may be someone there who has solved this particular problem. Here is a link to those forums, for your convenience. Just press the Windows key + P for a quick change to the tv Hi Dave OK, can you describe the options you are seeing and which one switches to the TV only in the box that appears when you press Win+P? Let us know. Thank You for using Windows 7 Ronnie Vernon MVP

Hi, I am seeing the 4 option display popup with "computer only, duplicate, extend and projector only" I know by setting to extend, the tv should appear and be able to watch videos on there seperate to the computer - I am not 100% but setting to projector may turn off the computer screen and choose only the TV as the output source
