Windows 7 desktop shuts down immediately after resuming from sleep.
Windows 7 SP1 Ultimate x64 Retail on cutom built PC (2008) - motherboard is a nVidia n790i Ultra. Scenario: Watching live or recorded TV in Windows Media Centre toward the end of the day. If I haven't configured a timer to shut down Windows automatically around midnight, I'll press the Power button on my WMC remote control while WMC is running, which makes the PC go to sleep. Occasionally I'll select 'Sleep' from the Shutdown Task in WMC. When I turn on my PC the next day (physical power button on desktop), it resumes, but then immediately starts to Shut Down. In Power Options, I've configured the computer to sleep if I press the Power button or the Sleep button (where-ever that is). The computer is set to Never go to sleep automatically. I searched Google but only found results for laptops/mobile computers.

Hi, I want to know whether this problem occurs when you click Sleep in Start Menu? I suggest that you try to reproduce this issue in Clean Boot: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: Clean Boot is a step of troubleshooting, we can go back to normal by running MSCONIFG. Also you could upgrade the WMC related drivers and firmware. William Tan TechNet Community Support

I've been using Sleep from the Start menu (instead of via WMC) for the last few days without this issue appearing. Not sure what you mean by WMC drivers, since I thought it's just an application. The TV card is a Compro E900F in case that's what you meant. I'll try your suggestion tomorrow since WMC is recording TV shows tonight.
