i can ping the server by ip address and domain name. my domain name is server.abcd.uaa.corp. i m using static ip address for the clients as there are less than 10 of them only. all are in the same subnet range.

Have you tried joining one machine to the domain with it not being on a static? then assign the static once on the domain?

Make sure you specify the Domain Controller's IP address as the primary DNS on the workstation you want to join the domain. That should let it join the domain without any issues. _________________________________________________________________________________________ Please vote my post as helpful if you think it was, and mark it as an answer if it answered your question. Try this: When joining the domain, use the short name "server" instead of the FQDN. When it asks for credentials, use "server\administrator" as the username. Also, some other issues I've run into: If the workstation is already a member of an older domain, change it to a workgroup first. Reboot and change it to the new domain. Check the "Computers" container on the DC to see if the workstation is listed. If it is, remove it and try again. _________________________________________________________________________________________ Please vote my post as helpful if you think it was, and mark it as an answer if it answered your question. Is this workstation in a different office/site than the others and the server? If so, is it on the same network? _________________________________________________________________________________________ Please vote my post as helpful if you think it was, and mark it as an answer if it answered your question. on further troubleshooting, I realize that the domain account I used to join the server to my domain is corrupted. This could be a reason why I cant join domain. Seems like my connection to my AD is broked. How can i fix this error ??

ensure that the domain name your using is in fact your FQDN , or PQDN. use ipconfig in cmd to ensure your clients are receiving an ip from your dhcp (assuming you have them on a LAN connection)
