Windows 7 default Domain Name
I need to log into a remote server with just a user name and password. Windows 7 automatically adds the computer name as a default domain to the login. This is unaceptable by the remote server as it is just looking for user name and password.
Is there a fix for this problem?

Try using the dot-notation:
.\username
Password
