Windows 7 data transfer from old drive to new drive using USB to SATA
Hello, I'm trying to transfer data that I have on my old hard drive to my new one. The old drive was part of an old machine that was running on Windows Vista Ultimate. My new hard drive is part of a new machine that is running Windows 7 Home Premium. The problem I am having is the following: On my old machine, my user account name was Anonymous. On my new machine, my user account name is Anonymous. When I attach my old hard drive using the USB to SATA connection, Windows 7 sees the three different partitions that I have on the drive correctly. It assigns them drive letters E, F, G. C and D belong to my new hard drive and the DVD rom. Drive F corresponds to my old C drive, and here I have "My Documents" folder for the user Anonymous for my old machine. However, when I access this folder after allowing security permissions and the like, Windows 7 thinks its my existing "My Documents" folder for the user Anonymous on my new machine. In other words, I can't see my old data. What is going on and how do I get it to see the old data? Thanks, Hammad

Hello,Do you meant that when trying to open the old "My Documents" folder that in drive F, you will be redirected to the new "My Documments" folder that for Windows 7 user Anonymous ?There are two "My Documents" folders in the Windows vista profiles, one is shortcut, the other is real folder. Make sure that the folder you opened is the real folder. If the issue persists, try to copy My Documents folder to another partition. Thomas77
