Hi Ross, What is your laptop specs? Try the following driver from ATI: ATI Display Driver for Notebook for Windows 7 32-bit ATI Display Driver for Notebook for Windows 7 64-bit If it's a overheating issue, I would suggest that you ensure that your laptop is cool before we further troubleshoot the OS itself.Jabez Gan [MVP] - http://www.msblog.org Contributing Author for: (Sybex) MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure Configuration Study Guide: Exam 70-643

The blue screen stop errors are always caused by kernel portion components, such as a device drivers, backup software or anti-virus services (buggy services). To be more specific, the system goes to a blue screen because there is some exceptions happened in the kernel (a device drivers, backup software or anti-virus services, etc.), and Windows implements this mechanism: When it detects some errors occur in the kernel, it will kill the box in case some more severe damage happens. Then we get a blue screen or the system reboots (it depends on what the system settings are). To solid troubleshoot this kind of kernel crash issue, we need to debug the crashed system dump and analyze the related source code if needed. Unfortunately, debugging is beyond what we can do in the forum. I'd like to recommend that you contact Microsoft Customer Support Service (CSS) for assistance so that this problem can be resolved efficiently. Greetings,I'm reading on ATI's website your graphics card specs and I can't find any reference in regards with Windows Vista Compability. Have you ever tried to install Vista on your laptop? If it's not fully compatible with Windows Vista, won't be with W7 either.Regards.W7 Beta running on an AMD Semprom 3200+ (1800Mhz) with 2 Gbs of RAM and a built-in Nvidia 6100 VGA, and mate, it runs like a charm! And now on my VAIO FE31M Laptop.

Hmmm... People are reporting good luck on older hardware and I'm running Windows 7 on an older HP laptop. Unfortunately, many drivers were made for a specific laptop or family of laptops. Was this a new install or an upgrade, and did you update with Windows Update? If the compents aren't on the HCL then you may not have a good experience.
