My Windows 7 computer won't go to sleep. I have a home network with a main desktop in a Home Group with my laptop. After researching a lot, I determined that it is the HomeGroup that is responsible for this, as show by the powercfg /requests output: DISPLAY: None. SYSTEM: [DRIVER] \FileSystem\srvnet An active remote client has recently sent requests to this machine. AWAYMODE: None. This is without anything on the laptop actually open from the Desktop and vice versa. Now I found a work-around, where I can override srvnet through the following command: powercfg /requestsoverride DRIVER srvnet SYSTEM And this works great, except it breaks the HomeGroup, because if I'm pulling a video or something from the desktop to my laptop, the desktop will go to sleep on me, interrupting playback. And I did set the NIC to wake from MagicPacket only, as the other mode resulted in the computer being unable to stay asleep for more than 10 minutes at a time. Disabling MagicPacket had no effect on the computer's ability to go to sleep. And of course my NIC driver is up to date. So how can I allow my desktop to sleep without breaking the HomeGroup?
