Windows 7 command line keeps displaying a series of random numbers after running batch files for a while. Can somebody help?
Hi All, After executing batch files for more than a while, such as 30 minutes, it goes crazy, keeping displaying random numbers line by line which I suspect it's memory address. Can somebody help me with that? Thanks a lot. Bests, EllenI am not a coder but a code farmer

@equian: How long does this problem last? Are you able to end the task from Windows Task Manager? Also, does this happen with the regular "cmd" program (Command Prompt)? If it does, then nothing is wrong with the coding of the batch files itself... Otherwise, I'm sorry to hear about this...but I can't really do much about it. This is confusing indeed...

Iris Colen: Have you tried running the computer in safe mode? If you can, the password should be recognized. Here, once you get in (if you can), make a backup administrator account. Also, it probably would have been a bit better if you posted your question by itself so that it would be recognized in the Forum List, not in another Question. Hope this helps!

Hi Pentelec, this problem lasts about one month because I switched to Windows 7 from XP since April. Before, on the Windows XP platform, this never happened. I could end the task from the task manager. Concerned with regular "cmd" program, they didn't report such an error. If you could leave your email address, I would be very happy to send you the screen print of the strange error. Thank you very much!I am not a coder but a code farmer

Hi, According the issue, I really cannot repro your problem on my computer. I suggest that you may upload the screenshot via SkyDrive and post a link here. If possible, please upload batch files for analysis as well. http://explore.live.com/windows-live-skydrive?wa=wsignin1.0 Since you said this batch files works fine on your Windows XP machine, I suggest that you may try to run it in compatibility mode. 1. Right click the batch file, chose Properties. 2. Chose Compatibility tag, check “Run this program in compatibility mode”, then chose Window XP (Service Pack 3) in the drop list. 3. Click OK, then run this batch file again. Hope that helpsPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Hello, I would reccomend just using SkyDrive, because I don't want others spamming my e-mail address. Thank you to zhen tan for mentioning it. I forgot about that option! Pentelec

Pentelec Hi Pentelec, Thanks for understanding. Also I think using SkyDrive is more convenient to share this problem to other people. Then someone can find a solution when he meet a similar problem. Hello, I looked at the picture, and unfortunately, I've never seen it before. Does this happen with this one batch file or does it happen with others as well? After all, you reported to me that "cmd" does not act this way. Is this file on other computers, and is the coding the same? There could very well be an error in coding, or maybe Windows 7 is treating the batch executions near the end of the coding differently, perhaps. Even though it doesn't make sense, maybe the batch file in Windows 7 is just printing the text, because it doesn't work in Windows 7 but does in Windows XP. I highly doubt this was encoded into the batch file and doubt as well that this is the problem, but if you could open the batch file in Notepad (right-click the file and click "Edit"), you can look at the source. Otherwise, I'll look up as much information as I can, and hopefully come back with an answer soon. Pentelec

Hi, I have never seen a situation like this, since you cannot upload the batch file. I just suggest you may use Process Monitor to capture the process log, then we can try to find the root cause of this problem: 1. Download Process Monitor. 2. Run Process Monitor, repro this issue 3. Stop Process Monitor after this box appears, save the log as a PML file. 4. Upload via SkyDrive and post a link here. http://explore.live.com/windows-live-skydrive?wa=wsignin1.0 Hope that helps Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
