Windows 7 clients media disconnected after bootup and logon
Hi There! Having some trouble with one of my client's networks. It seems that most of the computers on the network, which are all Windows 7 Professional w/sp1, are having trouble connecting to the network upon initial startup and logon. Meaning, if I boot the computer or restart it, the network connection in the system tray shows a status of disconnected, then quickly changes to obtaining IP address, then switches back to disconnected for about two minutes, then changes back to obtaining an IP address, then finally connects. I ran across this problem becuase I noticed that the GPO logon scripts (just to map drives) weren't working. I have tried another switch port, another switch, a different cable, even an entirely different network (via a small home router with built in switch), and all have produced the same results. If I start up the computer and let it sit at the ctrl+alt+del screen for a few minutes, and then logon, the script and the network connection both work fine. On a side note: The event viewer shows that the processing of group policy failed because of lack of network connectivity...two minutes later (in the event viewer), they process successfully... Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks! Jared

Hi, I suggest you configure the following group policy for a test: Computer Configuration\System\Logon\Always wait for the network at computer startup and logon If you have any feedback on our support, please click hereAlex Zhao TechNet Community Support

Just wanted to send an update. I found (through simple trial and error), that the culprit was a Trend Micro NDIS 6.0 Filter Driver installed on the network adapter. As soon as I unchecked that, the problem went away. I ended up uninstalling the adapter from each computer since we don't use Trend Micro (comes pre-installed on the Dell computers we purchased), and everything works flawlessly now. I hope this helps someone out there! Jared
