Windows 7 can't see domain computers
I installed a new computer that runs Windows 7 Pro as a part of the "Workgroup", it does see all the computer in this group. There's also a domain on the network that it doesn't see. Actually it's a little weird, sometimes it does see it and connects to the server shares just fine but only for about a minute, then it doesn't see it again. Can ping it though just fine all the time. Network discovery is on, firewall is off...all the basic stuff I already tried that i could quickly find on this forum. Windows XP has "Entire Network" that would show all work groups and domains. No such an option in Windows 7, just a list of all PCs?

Hi, May I know if there are some computes with other versions of Windows on the network? If so, please also see: Networking home computers running different versions of Windows Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Enable Computer Browser service in Windows 7: 1) Log on to the client computer by using an account that has administrator permissions. 2) Click Start, type “services.msc” (without quotations) in Search Bar, and click OK. 3) In the list of services, double-click Computer Browser. 4) In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply. 5) Under Service status, click Start to start the Computer Browser Service. 6) When the service is started, click OK, and then quit the Services snap-in. 2. Apply the following in Windows XP SP2: Link Layer Topology Discovery (LLTD) Responder (KB922120) 3. If you need the “Entire Network" list in Windows 7, I think you can try copying this shortcut to Windows 7 from Windows XP as a workaround. Hope this helps. Thanks. Hi, I had a similar issue on all newly installed windows 7 machines, upon the Windows 7 first 'network discovery' attempt, it would either find nothing or would only return other Windows 7 domain computers. I found that if I simply hit the refresh icon for the networking window several times it would find the rest of the domain computers (which are a hodge podge of windows xp pro/home and 2000 pro). I did not have to set network discovery to automatic (in services) to make this happen. It is obvious that windows 7 is reluctant (through some setting) to do a complete network search and finds just the devices that are windows 7 qualified when first initiated. Could this have something to do with NAP?
